The successful applicant will join the Venue Technical team of the Academy and will work in all aspects of technical theatre presentations including stage, lighting and sound.

The duties of the post include providing technical support for the Academy's productions and events as well as local and international hirers' performances.

Appointee is expected to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Applicants should have:
(a) at least 5 subjects passed in the HKCEE; and
(b) either (i) a relevant technical certificate/diploma; or
(ii) a minimum of 4 years of technical experience in theatre, film/TV or entertainment business.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be made on a two-year contract, with possibility of renewal, subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity payment equal up to 10% of basic salary earned during the contract period will be payable upon satisfactory completion of contract. Fringe benefits include leave and medical benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Dancers perform in Hong Kong Disneyland's stage shows, special events, conventions and parades. They may appear both as part of a dance chorus, or as featured soloists. They must be trained dancers with a well-rounded background in jazz and ballet. Tumbling and gymnastic ability is a plus, but is not required.

Applicants must provide a current, non-returnable photo and resume. Qualified applicants will be invited to an audition. Auditions begin promptly at the times listed. Please arrive early to register. New Childrens Dance Studio opens - Red Shoe Dance

Ms Red Shoe - Or Jacqui as we know here, founded Red Shoe in 2005. Back then the classes moved from school to school; her mission was to make dance more accessible to young children and teenagers by introducing popular modern dance classes to the activity programs within various ESF and International Schools throughout Hong Kong. Since then it has grown and with the opening of it's very own Red Shoe Dance Studios in August 2011, Red Shoe Dance has become one of the most popular kids dance schools in Hong Kong for dance tuition.

Students can choose from a variety of dance styles; from Ballet, Jazz, Street Dance and Hip-Hop to Contemporary, Lyrical, and Musical Theater. In addition, RAD Ballet and ADAPT Jazz Examination Syllabus classes are offered to students who wish to strengthen their technique and advance to a much higher level. No matter what style students choose, they will learn techniques that improve posture, flexibility, co-ordination, concentration, and build strength and confidence.

Students are given many opportunities to perform at regular events throughout the year and are encouraged to participate in many of the community arts projects which take place in Hong Kong.

The UArts grad, also an alumnus of the Edge Performing Arts Center scholarship program in Hollywood, Calif., has a long list of dance credits that includes performances for Nickelodeon, Disney, VH1, Coca Cola, Red Bull and Paramount. He's worked on TV shows including MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew," Lifetime's "How to Look Good Naked" and ABC's "Dance Machine."
Millora has shared the stage with such artists as Britney Spears, Jesse McCartney, Nick Cannon and Clay Aiken, and toured on Disney's Cheetah Girls One World Tour.
Since starting working with Bieber over a year ago, Millora has appeared on "The Today Show," "Saturday Night Live," "Late Show with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "The View," "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and MTV's recent Video Music Awards.

On the evening of 17th May the intimate Le Boudoir bar was packed to the rafters - being witness to the electrifying debut performance of GIRLESQUE. A trio of vocalists and performers made up by a characterful presence of Lucia Tam, Pamela Huitt, and Rachel Williams.

The captivating and memorable performance throughout the night transported revellers back to a time of grace and glamour, with a full program of songs taken from famous musicals including on the night; "Welcome to Burlesque", "Diamonds are a Girls Bestfriend", "Champagne Glass", " I'm a Good Girl", and a show stopping finale of "Hey Big Spender", that brought the house down!

All the numbers are performed on the bar top every 15 minutes, with the girls mingling with the crowd in between numbers, keeping the atmosphere buzzing and tingling with anticipation all night.

With the entertaining presence of Grace, door hostess with the mostess, keeping a watchful eye on the proceedings and adding her unique sophistication.

Following workshops in Budapest, Sofia and Kaunas will be selected dancers who will participate in the show, co-production of the "One" magazine and Derida Dance, in partnership with Pro Progressione - Hungary and Aura Dance Theatre - Lithuania. The project will have three premiere performances in September 2011 at the festivals of contemporary dance in Kaunas (Lithuania), in Pécs (Hungary) and during Sofia Dance Week festival. International pop star Kylie Minogue has announced South East Asian dates for her “Aphrodite Live” 2011 World Tour. She will make her eagerly-anticipated return to Hong Kong for a one-night-only concert at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday, July 1st 2011. This date also marks the 14th anniversary of HKSAR establishment.

Who's doing what...choreographer gossip!

Here's just a couple of the latest projects that some of our local dancers are working on. If you know of anyone working on a great project that deserves a shout out, then get in touch with us and we'll give you credit where credit is due!!!

First up - Blush - the first pan asian girl band, are gonna be supporting the Bieber monster in HK soon. Working with them is Rock Fang, on of our favourite HK Hip Hop choreographers. Go team Blush!

Next we hear that the Twins are shooting their next vid in Australia right now, allegedly with some of the same team behind Lady GaGa and Beyonce's iconic Telephone video. On set with them is Jen Chiang from HK...

New Showbar Bisous in Hong Kong opens May 2011

'Let the old world glamour tantalise your senses' says the website and facebook page. All we know so far is that Rochelle Flaherty, ex Macau dancer and now production manager at this new club has been auditioning dancers for what we HOPE will be a great new performance venue in town. So far Hong Kong's been a bit lacking in venues that can showcase our local dance talent and entertainment. Whether Bisous will deliver on its promise and give us a show to remember, or whether it will become another 'nearly' club (LaKage, we are talking to you...) only time will tell. Apparently easy to enter, not so easy to get a table (buy a bottle or reservations only) we're not sure who this club is catering for. If it's us dancers and entertainers then make the tables cheaper! If it's the bankers, movers and shakers, then make space for us on stage... see you all at Bisous b**ches...
